Official rules to follow
- Digital photo taken within 6 months; whole face and head included; no shadows on face or background
- If paper photo requested: printed by studio or on professional photo paper
- No retouching, no composite photos
- Natural expression, eyes open, lips naturally closed (no teeth), all facial features clearly visible
- Hearing aids or similar allowed
- No head coverings except religious/medical/cultural needs, which must not cover the face or cast shadows
- Hair must not cover eyebrows, eyes or ears; no tilt, no side pose, no red eye
- China Consular app guidance: white background, dark clothing, both ears visible, no facial glare
